Ken and Sharon met in the fall of 1987 in Troy, Alabama. Sharon was finishing up her senior year of Accounting studies at what was then called Troy State University, having come from the Winter Haven, Florida area. Ken had graduated from TSU several years prior and was working in the area. They married a short time later in August of 1988. On staff with Campus Outreach took them to South Texas then Miami and finally Orlando. They raised three children while there, two boys and a girl. On October 7, 2017 they suffered a life altering tragedy, one that would prompt their move from Orlando. Their oldest son, Jakin, who was 24 years old, was killed in a car accident just one mile from their home. Soon after, their search began for a business that would lead them out of the Orlando area. A year later Ken came into contact with a realtor from Auburn with an interesting proposal – to buy a business in Opelika, Alabama. She did not know at the time that Ken had deep family roots in the area.

 

In honor and remembrance of their son, the Fosters have decided to change the name to Jakin Mobile Home Supply. It has been a huge comfort for the Fosters to have a fresh start in a place that feels like home. Ken grew up in the area and graduated from Auburn High School in 1981. They have delighted in reacquainting themselves with the area and have been attending Covenant PCA. Their son Jordan moved up with them and is one of the HVAC technicians for the business. Their daughter Abby, while currently in the Orlando area, has done some correspondence work for the business.

 

Our desire at Jakin Mobile Home Supply is to provide excellent service to the Auburn, Opelika, Troy and surrounding communities with quality mobile home supplies and HVAC equipment. We want to be that place that people can come to and feel welcome while also having the assurance they will be well taken care of.
